Wembley Stadium 3D Laser Scan
As part of the U2 360 degree tour Digital were commissioned to carryout surveys for Don Valley, Millennium and Wembley Stadium.
The tours stage rises 150 feet in to the air and is made out of solid steel with massive rotating bridges. It was paramount that accurate surveys were in place so that the logistics of getting the stage in the stadium could be overcome. We used our Scanstation 2 3D laser scanner to very quickly capture all the required measurements. With its long range of up to 300 metres, we were able to setup the scanner in the center of each stadium and carryout a 360 degree scan. For Wembley this took just 3 hours. The results were a highly detailed 3D model showing all internal steel work, seating and clearances for the stadium roof.
